Job summary

Peak Talent Advisors is seeking an experienced Estimator for water and wastewater projects, including facilities, pump stations, pipelines, and related systems. The role emphasizes estimating, cost control, and engineering input, with ability to prepare complex proposals with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, 3+ years of relevant experience, and strong knowledge of project life cycles and various delivery methods.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Review contract documents to provide accurate, detailed cost estimates.
• Develop preliminary budget estimates and itemized summaries for go/no-go decisions.
• Participate in preconstruction efforts for design-build or other delivery methods.
• Provide value engineering ideas to improve cost effectiveness and constructability.
• Review quantity takeoffs to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Communicate estimate assumptions and risks to Operations and executives.

Job description

Currently seeking professionals who have experience with estimating water and wastewater projects that involve any of the following: water treatment facilities, pump stations, lift stations, wells, pipelines and related systems.

This position requires estimating, cost control, and/or engineering experience. The ideal Estimator will be familiar with estimating techniques, engineering disciplines, and cost control systems. Must have the ability to prepare complex proposals with minimal supervision.

• Review, analyze, and interpret contract documents for a complete understanding of the work and owner deliverables to provide accurate, detailed cost estimates.
• Review opportunity pursuits and develop a preliminary budget estimate and itemized summary for go/no-go evaluation.
• Participate in preconstruction efforts for design-build or other alternative delivery projects.
• Provide creative and innovative thinking to analyze and develop strategy and value engineering solutions.
• Review quantity takeoff comparisons to provide an evaluation for accuracy and acceptance
• Work with scheduling staff and Operations to develop accurate and precise bid schedules
• Present complete and accurate estimates to Executive Management for review and to ensure confidence in decision-making.
• Perform all final bid close functions as required.
• Working in a team-oriented environment and training/mentoring others
• Company representation at pre-bids and site visits
• For awarded projects, communicate all estimate information to the Operations Team to ensure a thorough understanding of all assumptions, scope, risk, and strategies.
• Remain engaged with the project and Operations Team throughout the life of awarded projects.
• Develop business relationships within the regional marketplace.
• Experience in Water infrastructure or Heavy Civil construction.
• BS Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in estimating, cost control, and/or engineering.
• Ability to estimate all types of projects/contracts (e.g., Design Build, CMAR, Design-Bid-Build, etc.).
• Broad knowledge and understanding of water/wastewater, heavy civil, or similar infrastructure construction.
• Advanced understanding of the project life cycle, including bid, proposal, and estimation processes, and project management.
• Project Engineers with 3+ years of experience are welcome to apply.
