Job summary

Jobot is seeking a permanent Estimator for Structural Steel to join our team. The role focuses on preparing accurate estimates by analyzing plans, performing quantity take-offs, and developing complete bid proposals.

You will collaborate with project teams and suppliers to ensure cost efficiency and compliance with contracts. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management, 5+ years of steel estimation experience, strong math skills, and proficiency with

• Minimum 5 years of structural steel estimation experience.
• Proficiency with Estimating Software, Fabsuite, Fabtrol, Tekla EPM, and AISC.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and regulations.
• Excellent math skills and analytical mindset.
• Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specs.
• Knowledge of cutting-edge construction tech.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans and performing quantity take-offs.
• Develop complete and accurate bid proposals for Structural Steel projects.
• Review and evaluate cost estimates for accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, and cost tracking reports.
• Interpret and explain contracts and technical information to other professionals.
• Use software including Fabsuite, Fabtrol, and Tekla EPM for data analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
• Negotiate and liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders.
• Stay updated with latest techniques and materials in construction and adjust processes.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to ensure cost efficiency.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Permanent Estimator for Structural Steel to join our dynamic team. This individual will play a crucial role in our construction projects, preparing accurate estimates for jobs by gathering information and analyzing important metrics. Our ideal candidate has a strong understanding of construction processes, excellent mathematical skills, and a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities

• 1. Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications and performing quantity take-offs for select trades.
• 2. Develop complete and accurate bid proposals for Structural Steel projects.
• 3. Review and evaluate cost estimates to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• 4. Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, and cost tracking reports.
• 5. Interpret and explain contracts and technical information to other professionals.
• 6. Use specialized software including Fabsuite, Fabtrol, and Tekla EPM for data analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
• 7. Negotiate and liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to secure advantageous terms.
• 8. Stay updated with the latest techniques and materials in the construction industry and adjust the estimation process accordingly.
• 9. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and architects during the construction process to ensure cost efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications

• 1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in structural steel estimation in the construction industry.
• 3. Proficiency in using Estimating Software, Fabsuite, Fabtrol, Tekla EPM, and AISC.
• 4. Solid understanding of construction processes, materials, and legal regulations.
• 5. Excellent mathematical skills with an analytical mindset.
• 6. Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities.
• 7. Strong attention to detail with the ability to work well under pressure.
• 8. Ability to read and understand construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
• 9. Knowledge of the latest cutting-edge technologies in the construction industry.
• 10. Professional certification in estimating or a related field would be a plus.
