Job summary

SFV Services in Detroit is seeking an Estimator / Project Coordinator to own both estimating and coordination. You will define scope, perform takeoffs, solicit subcontractor pricing, and build baseline estimates to guide budget, schedule, and risk.

After award, you will coordinate subcontractors, track milestones, manage change orders, and maintain clear client communication from award through closeout. The role requires 3+ years in commercial construction estimating and project coordination,

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Commercial Construction Estimating, Project Coordination, or a combination of both (Required).
• Working knowledge of construction scheduling, subcontractor management, and project documentation
• Possesses a BA/BS in Construction Management, Business, Operations, or similar (not required)

Responsibilities

• Estimating: Define commercial project scope and understand client requirements
• Estimating: Read and interpret building plans and specifications
• Estimating: Perform quantity takeoffs and unit cost analysis from drawings, specifications, and schedules
• Estimating: Obtain and complete all project bid forms
• Estimating: Solicit, obtain, and evaluate subcontractor proposals for accuracy and completeness
• Estimating: Provide value engineering
• Estimating: Prepare estimates and documentation for change orders
• Estimating: Maintain accurate pricing structure with quarterly reviews
• Estimating: Prepare and submit proposals to the Director of Construction/VP for approval
• Estimating: Submit and track estimate statuses with clients
• Participate in client calls to clarify estimates as needed
• Project Coordination: Track changes, maintain a living estimate, and manage cost forecasting throughout the project
• Project Coordination: Assist in project scheduling and track milestones against the baseline
• Project Coordination: Coordinate subcontractor scheduling, mobilization, and day-to-day communication
• Project Coordination: Issue and track purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders
• Project Coordination: Manage project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, permits, and closeout packages
• Project Coordination: Support invoicing and billing by aligning project costs with the estimate
• Project Coordination: Serve as a point of contact for clients and design professionals from award through closeout
• Project Coordination: Perform site visits as necessary
• Project Coordination: Ensure compliance with relevant standards, codes, and contractual requirements
• Reports to Director of Construction/VP
• Ideal Candidate Profile: 3+ years in Commercial Construction Estimating, Project Coordination, or a combination of both (Required)

The Estimator / Project Coordinator Role

Accurate estimates and tight project coordination are the foundation of every successful project. This role owns both sides of that equation. On the front end, you will define scope, perform takeoffs, solicit subcontractor pricing, and build the estimates that set the baseline for budget, schedule, and risk. Once a project is awarded, you will help keep it on track by coordinating subcontractors, tracking schedules and change orders, and maintaining clear communication between clients, field teams, and Ownership. A solid estimate paired with disciplined coordination is what prevents scope creep, budget overruns, and missed deadlines.

Responsibilities

Estimating

Location

Compensation

This role is budgeted at $75K-$100K base salary (exempt), commensurate with experience.
