Job summary

MSS Solutions LLC is seeking an Estimator Mechanical to join our team. The role involves estimating, bidding, and managing subcontractor proposals for HVAC projects, with emphasis on detailed takeoffs, equipment submittals, and contract negotiations.

The position requires deep HVAC knowledge, strong math and reading of plans, and proficient MS Office skills. You will coordinate with managers, project teams, and customers to deliver compliant, cost-effective solutions that meet facility

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years experience in the HVAC industry and at least 3 years of estimating experience.
• Demonstrated ability to read and understand blueprints and construction plans and specifications.
• Ability to understand HVAC systems and controls and basic HVAC principles and calculations.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong work ethic.
• Proficient with all Microsoft Office related products.

Responsibilities

• Involved in estimating, bidding, vendor and subcontractor proposal review and purchasing processes.
• Develop detailed quantity takeoffs and bid packages; evaluate bids and issue contracts.
• Coordinate data collection and compare to office capabilities; perform equipment takeoffs and submittals.
• Assist project teams with technical support and plan reviews as needed.
• Develop and discuss solutions with managers, project teams, and customers to meet building system requirements.
• Prepare proposal pricing, determine selling strategy, and resolve scope deviations with the team.

Role and Responsibilities

Will be involved throughout the estimating bidding vendor and subcontractor proposal review and purchasing processesAbility to develop detailed quantity take offsDevelop bid packages contract scopes of work for subcontractors evaluate subcontractor bids and issue contractsCollects project data and compares to the offices capabilitiesPerforms new equipment takeoffsPrepares equipment submittalsAssists Managers and Project Managers with technical supportPerforms construction plan review or other requirements as determined by project needs constraints and responsibilities to meet all of the customers facility requirementsProvides knowledge and consultation in the form of developing facility related solutions for the customers problems Determines project needs constraints and responsibilities to meet the entire customers Building system design and installation requirementsDevelops evaluates and discusses possible solutions with Manager Project Manager Sub contractor Supplier andor customerCoordinates selection pricing and integrates equipment controls and services for each projectPrepares finalizes and reviews preliminary andor final proposal submittal completeHelps Manager determine proposal price and selling strategyResolves major deviations from scope with team after Project Scope ValidationHelps Manager develop project fulfillment schedule with project teamPrepares and reviews contract terms and conditions using standard contract templates when applicableWorks with team members to solicit proper expertise in order to meet customer needsOther such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time to time

Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum of 5 years experience 10 years preferred in the HVAC industry and at least 3 years of estimating experienceDemonstrated ability to read and understand blueprints and construction plans and specificationsAbility to understanding HVAC systems and controls and basic HVAC principles concepts and perform calculationsStrong communication skillsStrong work ethicProficient with all Microsoft Office related productsRegular and supervisory probation period required if applicableRandom drug testing requiredMust successfully pass a background check & drug testValid drivers license and clean driving record required

Physical Demands

Constant sitting walking short distances bending stooping twisting reaching above andor below shoulder handlinggrasping documents or office equipment clear speaking and adequate hearing sufficient to communicate effectively and respond appropriately in person andor on the telephone vision sufficient to read source materials and computer screen data repetitive motions for computer equipment use lift 25 lbs occasionally 5 10 lbs frequently to liftcarrymove objects files and documents
