Job summary

Calhoun Construction seeks a qualified estimator with 4–6 years of commercial construction estimating experience to join our growing team. You will review plans and specifications, prepare high-quality takeoffs, and submit accurate bid proposals while coordinating with clients and subcontractors.

The role requires strong math, the ability to read blueprints, and proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, and On-Screen Takeoff in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• 4-6 years of experience as a commercial construction estimator.
• Bachelor's degree or combination of education and years of experience.
• Experience with conceptual and schematic design budgeting.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook; knowledge of On-Screen Takeoff.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints; strong math skills.
• Organizational and time management skills; capability to manage multiple projects.
• Excellent communication with clients, subcontractors, and peers.

Responsibilities

• Review, create, submit quality estimates with detailed proposals.
• Prepare high level quantity and manpower take-offs.
• Prospect and procure new opportunities for bid.
• Analyze plans, specifications, proposals to prepare bid estimates.
• Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, and coordination meetings.

• Review, create, submit quality estimates with detailed proposals
• Prepare high level quantity and manpower take-offs
• Prospect and procure new opportunities for bid
• Comprehensively analyze plans, specifications, proposals and additional documentation to prepare bid estimates for projects
• Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, jobsite walk-throughs, bids, and coordination meetings
• Must maintain an extremely professional working relationship with clients, subcontractors, and peers
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• 4-6 years of experience as a commercial construction estimator
• Desire and determination to succeed
• Bachelor's degree or combination of education and years of experience
• Experience with conceptual and schematic design budgeting
• Computer skills to include proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; knowledge of On-Screen Takeoff
• Knowledge of construction processes and terminology
• Ability to read and understand blueprints
• Excellent math skills
• Organizational and time management skills and ability to manage multiple commercial construction projects is required
• Ability to fully understand plans and specifications
• Excellent communication skills; both internal and external
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, teamwork environment
