Job summary

Calhoun Construction Services is seeking a dynamic Estimator to join our Louisville team. You will review and prepare detailed bid estimates, conduct quantity take-offs, and seek new bid opportunities.

The role requires 4–6 years of commercial construction estimating experience, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, and Takeoff software. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 4-6 years of experience as a commercial construction estimator.
• Desire and determination to succeed.
• Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and years of experience.
• Experience with conceptual and schematic design budgeting.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook; On-Screen Takeoff knowledge preferred.
• Knowledge of construction processes and terminology.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Excellent math skills.
• Organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple commercial construction projects.
• Excellent communication skills; internal and external.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, teamwork environment.

Responsibilities

• Review, create, submit quality estimates with detailed proposals
• Prepare high level quantity and manpower take-offs
• Prospect and procure new opportunities for bid
• Comprehensively analyze plans, specifications, proposals and additional documentation to prepare bid estimates for projects
• Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, jobsite walk-throughs, bids, and coordination meetings
• Maintain an extremely professional working relationship with clients, subcontractors, and peers
• Other duties as assigned
