Job summary

Stewart Iron Works is seeking an Estimator I to support the estimating team with accurate quantity takeoffs, material and labor pricing, and bid preparation. You will work with project teams to move opportunities from plans to production and learn Division 5 Metals concepts.

The position emphasizes learning, collaboration, and precise estimating within a metal fabrication and installation environment. Strong math, reading drawings, and Excel skills are key to success.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Building Construction, Drafting Technology or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 0–3 years of construction estimating, metal fabrication, or related experience.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings and specifications.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills with emphasis on accuracy and detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and willingness to learn estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications, and documents to identify the scope of metalwork.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, equipment, and requirements.
• Assist in developing estimates for fabricated and installed metalwork.
• Gather pricing from suppliers, vendors, and internal resources.
• Coordinate with project teams to understand estimating assumptions and impacts.
