Job summary

Way Mechanical is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team. This position focuses on bidding HVAC and plumbing projects, reading blueprints, and preparing scope letters and bid documents. Travel to Dallas for training is required.

Candidates must pass a drug test, be legally eligible to work in the US, possess a high school diploma, and have strong English and estimating procedures knowledge. Minimum 5 years of experience is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of HVAC and Plumbing estimating experience.
• Ability to read, understand and analyze blueprints and specifications.
• Proficient in English and able to pass a drug test.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Bid: work with management to determine project fit and prepare scope letters and bid forms.
• Bid Process: obtain, evaluate, and compare vendor and subcontractor bids; gather pre-qualification data.
• Post-Bid: attend kickoff meetings, assist change order pricing, archive information for future estimates.

Way Mechanical is a leading Mechanical Contractor based in Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Nashville, Charlotte, and Raleigh. We specialize in commercial air conditioning, plumbing, and mechanical piping, as well as the maintenance of these systems. Way Mechanical is at the forefront of design-build/design-assist, preconstruction, commissioning, building information modeling (BIM), and quality control. We are looking for an experienced Estimator to join our team!

REQUIREMENTS:

• Able to pass a drug test.
• Legally eligible to work in the US.
• High school diploma.
• Proficient in the English language.
• 5+ years of experience bidding HVAC and Plumbing projects.
• Read, understand, and analyze blueprints and specifications.
• Ability to work quickly and accurately.
• Must be willing to learn our estimating procedures.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

Pre-Bid Process:

• Work with upper-level management to determine if projects meet company requirements.
• Prepare scope letters, bid forms, and required documents.

Bid Process:

• Obtain, evaluate, and compare vendor and subcontractors' bids.
• Obtain pre-qualification information from subcontractors.

Post-Bid Process:

• Prepare and attend Kickoff Meetings for awarded projects.
• Work on major equipment buyouts with the project team.
• Assist project managers with change order pricing and review.
• Archive any information as required to be useful in future estimates.

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in HVAC and Plumbing estimating.
