Job summary

DH Pace Company, Inc. is seeking an estimator in the Kansas City area to rapidly develop and apply high-level estimating skills using company processes and software.

You will learn door and dock product lines, assist customers in selecting options, and generate accurate cost estimates and bids for projects of varying complexity. Ideal candidates have at least two years in commercial estimating or related material industries, solid blueprint skills, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of commercial door/dock work experience or two years of new construction commercial estimating experience or building material industry experience.
• Experience with blueprints/plans and specs preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Develop advanced estimating skills using DH Pace estimating processes and software and other business programs (Excel, Bluebeam, Smartsheet, BAAN, SAM).
• Develop knowledge of door and dock products, functionality, features, usage options and pricing variance.
• Learn Core Product Lines, Vendors, and Labor Standards.
• Educate sales team on product options and assist customers in product selection to ensure sale and best project outcome.
• Generate accurate project cost estimates and bids.
• Estimate advanced and complex projects and write clear proposals for manager approval.

Job Responsibilities

• Rapidly develops or possesses advanced level skills at using DH Pace estimating processes and procedures and utilizing DH Pace estimating software as well as other business software programs. (Excel, Bluebeam, Smartsheet, BAAN, SAM, etc.)
• Rapidly develops or possesses advanced level knowledge of door and dock related products, understanding functionality, special features, usage options as well as pricing variance based on specific job needs
• Rapidly develops understanding of Core Product Lines, Vendors, Labor Standards
• Educates sales team on product options and assist customers in product selection to ensure sale and best project outcome.
• Generate accurate Project Cost Estimates and Bids
• Estimates advanced and complex projects of limited project size, writing all proposals clearly and concisely for review and approval by Manager prior to customer's review
• Additional responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum two (2) years of commercial door/dock work experience *OR* minimum two (2) years of new construction commercial estimating experience *OR* minimum two (2) years of building material industry is strongly preferred.
• Experience with Blueprints/Plans and Specs highly desired
• Must have strong attention to detail and good organizational skills
• Must have good verbal and written communication skills, and excellent customer service skills
• Ability to work Overtime as required
• Possess strong language, written and mathematical skills
