Job summary

Jobot is seeking an Estimator for a luxury residential builder in San Francisco. You will turn drawings, specs, and big ideas into accurate cost estimates from early conceptual budgets to final hard bids.

Collaborate with preconstruction, project management, and field teams to keep estimates aligned with real-world goals, schedules, and client expectations. You will gather bids, identify value-engineering opportunities, and present clear proposals and cost data.

Qualifications

• Residential estimating experience, preferably in high-end, custom or luxury homes.
• Ability to read architectural and structural drawings, specs, and scopes of work.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods and current market costs.
• Experience with estimating software and takeoffs; proficient with spreadsheets and project tools.

Responsibilities

• Turn drawings, specs, and big ideas into accurate, airtight cost estimates from early conceptual budgets to final hard bids.
• Run detailed quantity takeoffs and build out clean cost breakdowns across labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted scopes.
• Dig into architectural and structural documents to map scope, surface cost drivers, and catch what others miss.
• Gather, level, and pressure-test subcontractor and supplier bids so nothing slips through the cracks.
• Work with preconstruction, project management, and field teams to keep estimates tied to goals, schedules, and client expectations.
• Spot value-engineering moves and flag risks early.
• Sharpen cost data, historical pricing, and unit costs so estimates become tighter.
• Help shape proposals and present numbers clearly and credibly.

What You Bring:

• Real estimating experience in residential construction — bonus points for high-end, custom, or luxury work.
• A trained eye for architectural and structural drawings, specs, and scopes of work.
• A strong command of construction methods, materials, and what things actually cost in today's market.
• Fluency with estimating and takeoff software, plus the usual spreadsheet and project tools.
• Serious attention to detail and the analytical chops to back it up.
• The organizational muscle to juggle multiple bids and deadlines without dropping a thing.
• A collaborative, proactive, client-first mindset that thrives on a tight, quality-obsessed team.
