Qualifications

• 5+ years as Estimator in commercial construction.
• Experience pricing commercial interiors / fit-outs.
• Able to read drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for commercial projects.
• Review drawings and specifications to determine scope.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor pricing.
• Prepare bid packages and assist tender submissions.
• Develop project budgets and procurement strategies.
• Identify value engineering opportunities.
• Collaborate with Project Managers during handover.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits.

Role Overview

We are supporting a well-established New York City General Contractor that is seeking an Estimator to join its growing preconstruction team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a contractor with a strong reputation across the commercial construction market, delivering a diverse portfolio of interior fit-out and infrastructure projects throughout New York City. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing competitive estimates, supporting preconstruction activities, and working closely with operations to help secure and successfully deliver future projects. The ideal candidate will have experience estimating commercial construction projects and enjoy working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with opportunities for long-term career progression.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for commercial construction projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Prepare bid packages and assist with tender submissions.
• Develop conceptual and detailed project budgets.
• Identify value engineering opportunities where appropriate.
• Work closely with Project Managers and Operations teams during handover.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
• Maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners.
• Assist in developing accurate project schedules and procurement strategies.

Requirements

• Experience as an Estimator within commercial construction.
• Experience pricing commercial interiors, corporate fit-outs, infrastructure, or institutional projects preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and estimating practices.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience preparing competitive bids and managing multiple tenders simultaneously.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Office.
• Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: $120,000 - $140,000 DOE
