Job summary

General Contractor in New York, NY is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our preconstruction team and accurately estimate Class A office renovations, additions and commercial interiors.

You will collaborate with project executives, preconstruction teams, architects and subcontractors to develop detailed estimates from early concept through final bid, with a focus on occupied building projects in the New York market.

Qualifications

• Experience estimating as a General Contractor.
• Experience with Class A office, commercial interiors, renovations or tenant improvements.
• Knowledge of the New York construction market.
• Experience estimating projects within occupied buildings.
• Strong understanding of interior finishes, MEP coordination and costs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for Class A office renovations, additions and interior construction projects.
• Review drawings, specifications and bid documents to determine project scope.
• Perform quantity take-offs and develop detailed cost estimates.
• Prepare conceptual, schematic, design development and final construction estimates.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Develop bid packages and scope sheets.
• Identify scope gaps, exclusions and potential project risks.
• Perform value engineering and provide alternative cost solutions.
• Analyse subcontractor bids and ensure complete scope coverage.
• Maintain current knowledge of labour, material and subcontractor costs within the New York market.
• Participate in preconstruction meetings and collaborate with clients, architects and project teams.
• Support project handover from preconstruction into construction.
• Maintain historical cost data and subcontractor relationships.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join an established General Contractor in New York, supporting the preconstruction and estimating of high-quality Class A office renovations, additions and commercial interior projects.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the New York construction market and experience estimating sophisticated office renovation, tenant improvement and interior construction projects.

This role will work closely with project executives, preconstruction teams, architects, consultants and subcontractors to develop accurate and competitive estimates from early concept through final bid.

Requirements

• Previous estimating experience with a General Contractor
• Strong experience with Class A office, commercial interiors, renovations or tenant improvement projects
• Knowledge of the New York construction market
• Experience estimating projects within occupied and operational buildings is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of interior finishes, MEP coordination and associated building systems
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural and MEP drawings
• Experience managing subcontractor pricing and bid levelling
• Strong analytical and numerical skills
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
