Job summary

Dallas Mechanical Group is seeking an on-site Estimator to support HVAC construction projects with cost estimation and bid preparation. This role collaborates with clients, vendors, and engineers to develop accurate estimates and ensure successful project turnover.

The ideal candidate will analyze blueprints, perform take-offs, and prepare detailed proposals while maintaining strong relationships with general contractors and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of codes and standards governing design/operating requirements.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Capable of handling confidential information.
• Organized and able to prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities

• Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future products.
• Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss estimates and resolve issues.
• Prepare estimates used by management for planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
• Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
• Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes to cost estimates.
• Review contract and bid documents; understand scope for project turnover.
• Attend walk-throughs, pre-bid, and scope clarification meetings.
• Perform quantitative take-off and computer entry.
• Prepare scope letters and proposals.
• Maintain relationships with customers, general contractors, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate efforts with the Engineering Department.
• Review design options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, and material availability.
• Review quotes from subcontractors for accurate scope of work as per plans and specs.
• Ensure documents are saved in the company drive in the estimating folder(s).
• Assist project managers with takeoffs and pricing changes in work.
• Escalate critical/sensitive issues to VP of Preconstruction with recommendations for resolution.
• Comply with policies, procedures, and safety programs.
• Attend job walks, team meetings, and site visits.

We specialize in all types of commercial HVAC systems and offer in‑house engineering and design capabilities across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines.

• Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by executives.
• Attend job walks, team meetings, and site visits.
