Job summary

Waypoint Contracting, Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and residential projects.

You will analyze plans, specifications, and bid documents, and collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to support preconstruction efforts. In this role you will perform quantity takeoffs, solicit bids, evaluate proposals, and help identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of estimating experience in commercial and/or residential construction.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Bid Management, Planhub or similar).
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Review project drawings, specifications, and related documents to determine scope of work.
• Assist in preparing detailed project cost estimates and bid proposals.
• Assist in subcontractor prequalification processes.
• Develop and maintain qualified subcontractor bid invitation lists.
• Solicit, obtain, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids.
• Perform quantity take-offs and obtain material pricing.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
• Participate in pre-proposal meetings and prepare RFIs.
• Evaluate project plans and specifications for constructability.
• Help prepare, organize, and coordinate Request for Proposal (RFP) documents.
• Maintain historical cost data and perform document archiving.
• Communicate regularly with management, subcontractors, clients, and internal teams.
• Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings -as required

WCI's Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and/or residential construction projects.
