Job summary

CyberCoders is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to produce accurate cost estimates for projects across multiple trades. You will analyze drawings, perform quantity takeoffs, develop unit pricing and labor costing, and manage bid packages to support successful bid submissions and project delivery.

The role requires proficiency in blueprint reading, estimating software, and advanced Excel skills, with experience in CSI divisions and change orders valued.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an Estimator / Construction Estimator (required).
  • Strong competency with quantity takeoff and material takeoff methodologies.
  • Proficient in blueprint reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with estimating software such as PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Sage Estimating and/or other common estimating tools (preferred).
  • Advanced MS Excel skills for pricing models, pivot tables and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Review drawings, specifications and documents to define scope of work and risks.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and material takeoffs to develop estimates.
  • Prepare bid packages with unit pricing, labor costing, material pricing and contingencies.
  • Manage subcontractor and supplier proposals; coordinate pre-bid meetings and clarifications.
  • Input estimates into estimating software and cost databases; ensure CSI division alignment and templates.
  • Develop unit price libraries and vendor pricing research to support repeatable estimates.
  • Collaborate with PMs, engineers and superintendents to review constructability and refine estimates.
  • Produce bid submissions on schedule and track bid status.
  • Perform site visits to validate quantities and conditions when required.
  • Support change order management with cost breakdowns and schedule/budget impacts.
  • Coordinate with scheduling teams (MS Project/Primavera) to align cost and schedule assumptions.

Construction Estimator
Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to produce accurate, competitive cost estimates for construction projects across multiple trades. The successful candidate will analyze drawings and specifications, perform quantity takeoffs, develop unit pricing and labor costing, manage bid packages, and collaborate with project teams and subcontractors to support successful bid submissions and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze architectural, structural and MEP drawings, specifications and contract documents to define scope of work and identify risks.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and material takeoffs using manual methods and takeoff software to develop accurate estimates.
  • Prepare comprehensive bid packages, including unit pricing, labor costing, material pricing, subcontractor quotes and contingency allowances.
  • Manage solicitation, evaluation and procurement of subcontractor and supplier proposals; coordinate pre-bid meetings and follow up for clarifications.
  • Input and maintain estimate data in estimating software and cost databases; ensure consistency with estimating standards (CSI divisions) and company templates.
  • Develop and maintain unit price libraries, historical cost data and vendor pricing research to support efficient and repeatable estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers and superintendents to review constructability, propose value engineering opportunities and refine estimates.
  • Produce and deliver formal estimate documents and bid submissions on schedule; track bid status and maintain bid management records.
  • Perform site visits and field verification when required to validate quantities, site conditions and assumptions.
  • Support change order management by preparing cost breakdowns, reviewing subcontractor change proposals and documenting impacts to schedule and budget.
  • Coordinate with scheduling teams using MS Project or Primavera P6 to align cost and schedule assumptions where required.
  • Assist with post-bid reconciliation, job cost reporting and lessons learned to improve estimating accuracy for future projects.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, construction codes, specifications and owner/agency conditions during estimate development.
Qualifications

  • Experience with estimating software such as PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Sage Estimating and/or other common estimating tools (preferred).
  • Advanced MS Excel skills for pricing models, pivot tables and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with Revit/BIM workflows and integration with estimating processes (preferred).
  • Experience with unit pricing, labor costing, cost control, budgeting and job cost reporting.
  • Experience preparing and managing bids, subcontractor procurement and bid management processes.
  • Knowledge of change order management, value engineering and cost database management.
  • Ability to perform risk analysis and develop appropriate contingencies and assumptions.
  • Experience conducting site visits and field verification to validate quantities and conditions.
  • Familiarity with construction scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera P6) and aligning cost assumptions with schedules (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of construction codes, specifications and estimating standards (CSI divisions).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present estimates and assumptions to internal teams and clients.
  • Educational background in Construction Management, Civil/Construction Engineering, Architecture or related field preferred; relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator) a plus.
