Job summary

Austin Commercial is seeking an Estimating Manager to lead and manage our Change Orders on our multi-billion dollar project within the Phoenix, AZ Division. The role requires extensive estimating experience and a strong background in construction methods and materials as the company is 100% employee-owned.

As a leader in commercial construction, you will oversee bid preparation, subcontractor evaluation, and cost analysis, while ensuring adherence to policies and driving value engineering.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of estimating experience, including competitive bid and negotiated work
• BS/BA in engineering, construction science, architecture, or relevant discipline
• Strong knowledge of building designs, systems, and construction materials
• Proficiency with estimating and quantity take-off software
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to negotiate

Responsibilities

• Oversees preparation of detailed deliverables and presents information from a knowledgeable standpoint
• Maintains company bid lists and evaluates subcontractors and suppliers
• Represents Austin in meetings with owners and architects to discuss design and budget issues
• Ensures compliance with company policies related to estimate reviews
• Reviews documents for onerous requirements and identifies cost-saving opportunities
• Evaluates subcontractors and personnel ability to perform work segments
• Leads training and development of estimators in the department
• Compiles cost data for estimating databases
