Job summary

Core & Main, based in St. Louis, seeks an Estimating Manager for the Critical Infrastructure Group to oversee nationwide estimating operations and drive accurate material takeoffs. You will partner with regional leaders, sales, and PreBid to sustain consistent practices and strategic bid pursuits.

The role emphasizes leadership, training, and process improvements while ensuring standards and project requirements are met across complex infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of prior experience in bid preparation, sales, or construction.
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools in construction or repair of houses and buildings.
• Business and management principles.
• Extensive knowledge of waterworks materials.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily estimating operations for all project types and complexity levels.
• Ensure accurate, consistent material quantity takeoffs across the regional estimating team.
• Assign and monitor project workloads and balance capacity across teams and regions.
• Implement quality control processes to validate takeoff accuracy and reduce risk.
• Guide teams on design-build methodology, material recommendations, and early-stage project input.
• Collaborate with sales leadership to develop strategic bid approaches.
• Coordinate with PreBid to resolve specification conflicts, RFIs, and scope discrepancies.
• Provide coaching, performance feedback, and mentoring to elevate technical proficiency.
