Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial construction estimating experience.
• Established, positive trade partner relationships.
• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel, construction estimating software, and reading drawings and specifications.
• Willingness to travel, including overnight.
• 5+ years total construction experience, experience estimating $50M+ projects is a plus.

Job Title: Estimating Manager - Commercial Construction - Dallas, TX

Location: Dallas, TX (Hybrid, 1 day per week from home)

Salary: $105,000 - $130,000 Annually (based on experience)

Role Overview

The Estimating Manager prepares cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals, develops more economical ways to construct projects, and delivers comprehensive packages for major estimates. This role applies the company's estimating processes and tools and works closely with operations, field staff, trade partners, and clients.

This search is for an estimator with 3+ years of commercial construction estimating experience and strong trade partner relationships. Candidates currently estimating $50M+ commercial projects with a medium or large general contractor are the strongest fit. The role has a defined path to Estimating Manager 2.

Core Responsibilities

• Prepare complex cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals.
• Perform quantity surveys from project plans and maintain an audit trail from estimate to estimate.
• Read and outline project specifications; develop and manage scopes of work for all trades, including the responsibility matrix.
• Lead vendor and subcontractor bid solicitation, plan and specification distribution, pricing, and coordination.
• Prepare material and cost summaries from vendor quotes and coordinate bid day summaries and general requirements estimates.
• Track value creation items from development through inclusion in project documentation.
• Apply knowledge of the project schedule and logistics; assist with system analysis of building components and MEP systems.
• Collaborate with operations and field staff during preconstruction to develop more economical ways to build.
• Participate in project procurement presentations and deliver professional, comprehensive packages at the completion of each major estimate.
• Improve project profitability by applying an understanding of insurance structures, fees, and rates.
• Gain self-perform estimating experience and field exposure through onsite project support.
• Provide training and mentorship to others and build strong relationships with project teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
  

Required Background

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
• 3+ years of commercial construction estimating experience
• Established, positive trade partner relationships
• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
• Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel, construction estimating software, and reading drawings and specifications
• Working knowledge of construction means and methods, specific trades and scopes of work, and self-perform labor productivity
• Ability to conduct effective presentations and communicate clearly, verbally and in writing
• Valid and unrestricted driver's license
• Willingness to travel, including overnight, and work non-traditional hours to meet project needs
• 5+ years of total construction experience, experience estimating $50M+ commercial projects, and knowledge of Lean or Revit are a plus
