Job summary

JE Dunn Construction in Kansas City is seeking an Estimating Engineer 2 to support the preparation of cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals. You will learn JE Dunn processes, expand professional skills, and contribute to the project team by reading plans, outlining specifications, and assisting with vendor pricing.

This role provides hands‑on experience in quantity surveying, pricing, value creation items tracking, constructability reviews, and developing scopes of work

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field; or equivalent relevant experience.
• Minimum 2+ years of construction experience.
• Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency in MS Office and construction estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Performs quantity survey of materials shown on project plans.
• Reads and outlines project specifications.
• Maintains an audit trail of the quantity survey from estimate to estimate.
• Supports vendor/subcontractor pricing/bid solicitation and coordination.
• Supports the distribution of plans and specifications to vendors/subcontractors.
• Works collaboratively and creates relationships with stakeholders.
• Gains self-perform estimating experience.
• Gains field operational exposure through onsite project support.
