Job summary

atCause Law Office in Clearwater, FL is seeking a paralegal to support estate planning attorneys. You will manage case workflows, draft documents, and maintain client relationships in a collaborative, non-stuffy environment.

This role requires a bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate and 2+ years of estate planning or probate experience, plus proficiency with LexisNexis, Westlaw, and case management software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate from an accredited program (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of experience as a paralegal, specifically in estate planning or probate law.
  • In-depth knowledge of estate planning processes, including the mechanics of wills, trusts, and Florida-specific execution requirements.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw) and case management software.
  • Strong drafting skills for legal documents, with exceptional attention to detail and a "right-the-first-time" mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Manage individual case workflows from intake to completion, ensuring alignment with client goals, attorney strategies, and Florida estate planning laws.
  • Maintain proactive client relationships by providing transparent updates, addressing inquiries, and handling sensitive matters with empathy.
  • Coordinate the collection of financial and personal data required for comprehensive estate planning.
  • Monitor case deadlines and deliverables to ensure the timely completion and delivery of all estate planning services.
  • Draft high-quality estate planning documents, including Wills, Revocable Living Trusts, Powers of Attorney, and Advance Directives.
  • Assist attorneys with legal research to support estate planning strategies and stay current on developments in Florida estate planning and probate law.
  • Organize and maintain digital and physical client files, ensuring confidentiality and accessibility for the legal team.
  • Facilitate the funding of trusts by preparing deeds, beneficiary designations, and other asset transfer documents.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and other departments to provide integrated support for complex client needs.
