Responsibilities
  • Prepare and file probate documents, including petitions, inventories, and accounting, ensuring compliance with Florida probate laws and court requirements.
  • Assist attorneys in managing probate cases, including gathering assets, notifying creditors, and coordinating with beneficiaries.
  • Conduct legal research on Florida probate and estate laws to support case strategies and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Communicate with clients to collect necessary information, provide case updates, and address inquiries with sensitivity, particularly in matters involving bereavement.
  • Maintain and organize client files, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and accessibility for attorneys and team members.
  • Monitor case deadlines and court schedules to ensure timely submission of documents and adherence to probate timelines.
  • Assist with the preparation of estate inventories, asset valuations, and distribution plans under attorney supervision.
  • Collaborate with estate planning and elder law teams to provide integrated support for clients with overlapping legal needs.
Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field (or equivalent experience is preferred).
  • 1-3 years of experience in probate, estate planning, or a related legal field.
  • Knowledge of probate processes, estate administration, and Florida probate laws.
  • Experience working with clients in sensitive or emotional situations, such as bereavement.
  • Familiarity with legal research tools (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw, and Formbuilder) and case management software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and document management systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

Compensation & Benefits
  • This role starts at a salary of $40,000 - $50,000 per year.
