New York Public Library is seeking an ESOL Instructor for the Washington Heights Library to teach adult learners in ESOL and digital literacy. The role supports the fall cycle with in-person classes and online options.
Classes run Tue and Thu 6:00pm–8:00pm for 5 hours weekly, plus 1 hour of paid prep. A Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of adult teaching experience are required, with both in-person and online delivery preferred.

Overview Adult English Language and Literacy (AELL) is the direct service provider of ESOL and adult literacy instruction for The New York Public Library (NYPL). Professional teachers facilitate free instruction to adult patrons in reading, writing, speaking and listening from a 0 to 8th grade level in both in-person and online classes. Instruction is offered in three, 10-week cycles and one, 4-week summer cycle.
*Please note this position is for our fall cycle of classes which lasts 10 weeks and takes place between September and December.*
Must be available to work at Washington Heights Library (Manhattan) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00pm-8:00pm
