Job summary

Township of Union Public Schools seeks certified ESL teachers to screen multilingual learners entering Kindergarten and other new or transfer students. After records review, teachers administer the WIDA Screener for K-12 students whose Home Language Survey indicates languages other than English, supporting NJDOE multilingual learner identification and ESL placement before the school year starts.

Qualifications

• Hold valid New Jersey teaching certificate and ESL certification.
• Experience with WIDA Screener or ACCESS testing is preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Administer WIDA Screener for incoming Kindergarten students and other new students in grades K-12.
• Review Home Language Surveys and student records prior to testing.
• Score, record and upload screener tests results.
• Notify parents/guardians.
• Complete the identification process in GenesisAssist with the placement of newly involved students.
