Job summary

Boston Public Schools seeks an exceptional English as a Second Language and Special Education/moderate disabilities teacher to join our community of educators and learners. You will report to the Principal/Head of School and design language-enhancing instruction for multilingual learners while supporting district standards and assessments.

Qualifications

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree.
• Hold a valid Massachusetts Teaching License in ESL at the appropriate grade level.
• Hold a valid Massachusetts Teaching License in Moderate Disabilities at the appropriate grade level.
• Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.
• Able to model excellent spoken and written English for students learning English in school.

Responsibilities

• Teach: English as a Second Language to Multilingual Learners identified as English Learners.
• Collaborate with content teachers to align instruction and support across language development and classroom needs.
• Collaborate with instructional leadership to ensure language support and academic assistance.
• Assist with ACCESS administration.
• Plan and deliver lessons aligned to WIDA Instructional Standards and Can Do Descriptors.
• Demonstrate cultural proficiency and integrate technology as an instructional tool.
• Assist with mandated state and local assessments for English language learners.
• Attend professional development to stay current with ELL instruction.
• Implement district learning goals for ESL and Moderate Disabilities as per IEPs.
