Job summary

Spring ISD BAMMEL MS in Houston, TX seeks an ESL Aide to support classroom instruction and supervise ESL students. The role partners with teachers to monitor progress, provide linguistic support in content areas and help maintain student records.

Requirements include 48 hours of college coursework, NCLB testing, and strong clerical and communication skills; associates degree and experience with children are preferred. This is a full-time, nonexempt position starting immediately.

Qualifications

• 48 hours of college coursework from an accredited college or university.
• Pass Spring Independent School District’s NCLB test in the areas of Reading, Writing, and Mathematics (Tests are administered after the recommendation for hire)
• Associate’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university
• One+ years experience working with children

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in the instructional setting
• Confer with teachers, parents and/or appropriate personnel for the purpose of assisting in evaluation of students’ progress
• Perform record keeping and basic clerical functions for the purpose of supporting teachers in maintaining student files
• Monitor individual students in classroom
• Provide linguistic support to students in the content area classes
• Participate in staff development and faculty meetings as assigned
• Perform all other duties as assigned
