Job summary

Spring ISD's BAMMEL Middle School in Houston, TX is seeking a Structured Behavior Support (SBS) Aide to assist the SBS Teacher in meeting behavioral and academic needs of students with disabilities. The position is nonexempt, with 187 days of work per year. Starting date is immediate.

Salary ranges from $24,310 to $28,589 annually, with a Para 4 pay grade. Requires 48 college hours, NCLB testing, and Educational Aide Certification.

Qualifications

• 48 hours of college coursework from an accredited college or university.
• Pass Spring ISD's NCLB test in Reading, Writing, and Math.
• Must obtain Educational Aide Certification.
• Preferred: Associate’s Degree or higher.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in collecting instructional and behavioral data.
• Assist teacher in preparation of instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Maintain records/reports required by federal, state or local laws/regulations.
• Assist students with physical disabilities, including transfers and positioning.
• Assist with feeding, bathroom needs and personal hygiene.
• Assist in implementing behavior plans.
• Assist in data collection and documenting student progress and services.
• Assist during crisis situations that may require restraint.
• Work with individuals or small groups to support social/behavior skills.
• Supervise students throughout the school day.
• Inform teacher of special needs or problems of students.
• Participate in staff development and faculty meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
