Job summary

Brookhaven National Laboratory seeks an Environment, Safety and Health Representative (ESHR) to support multiple divisions, advocating for safety and health across laboratory operations. The role involves fieldwork in chemical, biological, physical science areas, construction sites and large experimental facilities, coordinating with line management and researchers.

Responsibilities include hazard identification, training development, inspections, and compliance with DOE and OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, health sciences, occupational health and safety, or related field.
• Three years of related work experience in environmental, health and safety.
• Knowledge of EHS principles, practices, regulations, and requirements.
• Ability to present ideas and concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Identify job hazards, exposure evaluation and development of controls; prepare written training material and job procedures.
• Prepare and present trainings, toolboxes, classes on environmental, health and safety topics; ensure compliance with DOE and OSHA standards.
• Conduct environmental, health and safety inspections and track corrective actions; review project designs and work plans.
• Operate equipment to inspect, test, monitor and measure environmental and safety hazards.
• Work locations may include chemical labs, construction sites, and field conditions; act as safety resource for reviews and monitoring.
