Job summary

Brookhaven National Laboratory seeks an Associate Laboratory Director for Environment, Safety & Health (ES&H) to provide top-level leadership for safe and environmentally responsible operations on the 5,000-acre site employing around 3,000 staff. Reporting to the Laboratory Director, the ALD will steer ES&H programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a strong safety culture across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline plus a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, including 10 years in executive leadership.
• Significant leadership experience in ES&H management within complex scientific/regulated environments.
• Proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary technical organizations and diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide institutional leadership for environmental stewardship and worker safety and health programs across the Laboratory.
• Lead the ES&H Directorate with strategic direction and measurable safety performance targets.
• Partner with leadership to implement institution-wide ES&H strategies and initiatives.
