Job summary

The State of South Carolina Department of Social Services is seeking a DSS Connect Specialist to join the Economic Services inbound call center in Richland County. You will perform general casework and provide customer service to constituents seeking SNAP and TANF benefits, documenting actions in CHIP/SCOSA systems, and coordinating with state and county staff to resolve issues.

Responsibilities include maintaining automated logs, handling inquiries, and participating in emergency shelter duties

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and 3 years of clerical, administrative, social work, correctional, business administration, or general business experience.
• An Associate Degree and 1 year of clerical, administrative, social work, correctional, business administration, or general business experience.
• A Bachelor's Degree or higher may substitute for required experience.

Job Duties:

• The DSS Connect Specialist performs general casework and customer service duties in an Economic Services inbound call center. Prepares correspondences, tracking logs, and special assignments as required by supervisor.
• Answers constituent calls regarding SNAP and TANF benefits in a centralized inbound call center environment and escalates constituent complaints regarding benefit delivery to the appropriate Economic Services Center for review and resolution within the required time frame and in accordance with federal legislation, state laws and regulations, and Agency policy and procedures. Disseminates SNAP/TANF reported changes to the Economic Services Center.
• Ensures proper documentation of all cases and case actions taken, as well as disseminating client communications/notices via the agency CHIP and/or SCOSA systems. Communicates with State and County DSS staff, to facilitate appropriate action regarding information reported through the constituent call process.
• Maintains automated complaint database and other tracking reports in an effort to track constituent calls and responses and to identify county and/or statewide trends regarding constituent issues.
• Performs Red Cross shelter duty or other emergency shelter duty or services as directed.

A High School Diploma and three (3) years of clerical, administrative, social work, correctional, business administration, or general business experience.

An Associate Degree and one (1) year of clerical, administrative, social work, correctional, business administration, or general business experience.

A Bachelor's Degree or higher may be substituted for required experience.
