Job summary

University of Nebraska–Lincoln is seeking a Payroll Technician to analyze and validate HR/payroll data, applying UNL policies and tax regulations. The role includes training staff on SAP navigation and serving as the initial payroll contact for walk-in employees.

The position supports processing special checks, tax withholding, and leave payouts, within a full-time payroll services department offering comprehensive university benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in business administration, accounting or related field plus two years payroll and/or accounting experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills in word processing and spreadsheets; detail oriented and timely.

Responsibilities

• Analyze all employment, salary, and personal data on HR/Payroll transmittal forms and SAP Personnel Administration.
• Validate incoming materials for completeness and accuracy against UNL policies and regulations.
• Train UNL staff in HR/Payroll transmittal forms and SAP navigation.
• Serve as initial Payroll contact for walk-in employees and department staff; assist with processing special checks, tax withholding, leave payouts, and overpayments.
