Job summary

CPS Inc. in Washington, DC seeks an experienced Employee Benefits Compliance Attorney to advise multiemployer and Taft-Hartley benefit plans on ERISA and regulatory matters.

The role involves working directly with trustees, plan administrators, and professionals to develop practical compliance solutions. The ideal candidate has ERISA experience, strong research and writing skills, and can navigate fiduciary governance, plan document drafting, and regulatory inquiries, with a hybrid schedule

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active DC Bar license in good standing.
• Experience in employee benefits/ERISA law.
• Experience with multiemployer/Taft-Hartley plans preferred.
• Strong research, writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise on ERISA and employee benefits compliance for multiemployer plans.
• Provide guidance to boards of trustees, fiduciaries and admins.
• Interpret ERISA, IRC, DOL, IRS, PBGC guidance and regulations.
• Advise on plan governance, administration and fiduciary duties.
• Draft and amend plan documents, notices and related materials.
• Assist with pension, health and welfare and other benefit matters.
• Research new legislation and regulatory guidance affecting plans.
• Support regulatory inquiries, audits and government communications.
• Address contributions, withdrawal liability and funding issues.
• Attend client and trustee meetings; collaborate with peers.
• Draft memoranda and compliance updates for clients.
