Job summary

SmartestEnergy in Houston is seeking a Trader (ERCOT) to manage hedging and risk for the retail business while pursuing profit targets. Reporting to the Head of Trading, you will execute power and gas strategies within risk limits and contribute to market-facing analytics.

You should have 3–5 years in U.S. energy markets, especially ERCOT, and be highly numerate with strong judgment under pressure. This role offers a hybrid Houston office arrangement with three days in the office.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-5 years in U.S. energy or commodity markets as a Trader conducting bilateral transactions in ERCOT, or similar role.

Responsibilities

• Effectively hedge the Retail Customer Hedge Book within the tolerances of the company risk framework
• Operating within and complying with risk limits, credit and collateral use policies, and trading control procedures.
• Achievement of annual Trading P&L targets – customer hedging profitability and proprietary Trading pnl.
• Specify and contribute to the development of Trading Analytics tools and reports
• Development of ERCOT bid/mid/offer wholesale marks
• Issuance of Retail commodity offer curve and ad-hoc Power plant offtake prices
• Develop and Maintain key relationships which market participants to support Trading activities
