Job summary

Gulf Coast Veterinary Emergency Hospital is seeking qualified veterinary professionals to join our emergency team. Duties include triage, lab sample collection and analysis, diagnostic imaging, nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases, medication administration, and anesthesia management.

Strong communication with clients is essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years vet med experience preferred, CVT preferred but not required.
  • ER or Urgent Care experience is highly preferred, but not required for more experienced applicants.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude as a team member.
  • Must arrive on-time and ready to work.
  • Some weekend shift availability is required.
  • Exceptional customer service and ability to communicate treatment plans clearly.
  • Ability to interpret medical records and record client history accurately.
  • Knowledge in preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow.
  • Ability to restrain pets calmly and safely.
  • Proficient in collecting samples (blood, urine, fecal, skin) and processing tests.
  • Proficient in radiographs and dental radiographs positioning.
  • Proficient in anesthesia and surgical monitoring.
  • Self-starter with desire to advance knowledge and skills.
  • Able to receive feedback professionally to maintain efficiency.

Job description

Here at Gulf Coast Veterinary Emergency Hospital, our team is led by dedicated veterinarians with decades of experience in animal health. Our state-of-the-art facility is furnished with the latest technology and equipment to care for everything from minor to severe emergencies. We have four exam rooms, an on-site blood bank, and a fully stocked pharmacy to evaluate and deliver emergency treatment. Our surgical suite is equipped with continuous critical care monitoring to observe every case with which we are faced. We have in-house radiology, lab analysis, and ultrasound. No matter how big or small the patient and their needs are, we continuously strive to set and deliver a high standard of compassionate care!

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in positioning and capturing radiographs,positioning for dental radiographs are a plus
  • Proficient in anesthesia and surgical monitoring
  • A self-starter with the desire to continue to advance one’s knowledge and skillset
  • Ability to receive in a professional manner constructive feedback to maintain hospital efficiency
