Job summary

Gulf Coast Veterinary Emergency Hospital in Biloxi, MS, seeks a part-time or relief teammate who can regularly work weekend shifts. The role includes triage, restraint, lab work, imaging, and nursing care in a high‑volume emergency setting.

We offer an experienced team, on-site blood bank, pharmacy, radiology, and continuous training to grow in veterinary medicine. Weekend availability is required and compensation ranges based on licensure and experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years vet med experience preferred.
  • CVT preferred but not required.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Animal restraint and triage of incoming patients.
  • Collection and analysis of lab samples; diagnostic imaging.
  • Nursing care and medical management of hospitalized cases; medication administration.
  • Communication of treatment plans with clients; surgical preparation and assistance.

Job description

We are currently looking to add a part-time or relief teammate who can regularly work weekend shifts

Here at Gulf Coast Veterinary Emergency Hospital, our team is led by dedicated veterinarians with decades of experience in animal health. Our state-of-the-art facility is furnished with the latest technology and equipment to care for everything from minor to severe emergencies. We have four exam rooms, an on-site blood bank, and a fully stocked pharmacy to evaluate and deliver emergency treatment. Our surgical suite is equipped with continuous critical care monitoring to observe every case with which we are faced. We have in-house radiology, lab analysis, and ultrasound. No matter how big or small the patient and their needs are, we continuously strive to set and deliver a high standard of compassionate care!

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

We’re looking for:

  • A minimum of 2-years vet medexperience preferred, CVT preferred but not required.
  • A high work ethic and positive attitude team member.
  • Ability to arrive on-time and ready to work.
  • Weekend availability is required.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to communicate precisely
  • Interpret medical records and record client history accurately
  • Knowledge in preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow
  • Ability to restrain pets in a low-stress and safe manner
  • Proficient in sample collection to include blood samples, urine, fecal, and skin
  • Ability to properly set-up and process laboratory samples and tests
  • Proficient in positioning and capturing radiographs, positioning for dental radiographs are a plus
  • Proficient in anesthesia and surgical monitoring
  • A self-starter with the desire to continue to advance one’s knowledge and skillset
  • Ability to receive in a professional manner constructive feedback to maintain hospital efficiency

Pay range: $16 - $21/hr. depending on experience and licensure status
