Job summary

Alliance Animal Health in Port Saint Lucie, FL, operates a 24/7 emergency veterinary hospital and a full-service animal hospital during the day. We are expanding our Emergency Services team and seek an experienced veterinary technician to triage, collect samples, perform diagnostics, and support anesthetic management.

Requires 1+ year professional experience; ER or Urgent Care background preferred. Weekend availability and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year professional experience required.
  • Experience in ER or Urgent Care is preferred but not required for more experienced applicants.
  • A high work ethic and positive attitude team member.
  • Ability to arrive on-time and ready to work.
  • Some weekend availability.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to communicate precisely.
  • Interpret medical records and record client history accurately.
  • Knowledge in preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow.
  • Ability to restrain pets in a low-stress and safe manner.
  • Proficiency in anesthesia and surgical monitoring.
  • Proficient in sample collection to include blood samples, urine, fecal, and skin.
  • Ability to properly set-up and process laboratory samples and tests.
  • Proficient in positioning and capturing radiographs.
  • A self-starter with the desire to continue to advance one’s knowledge and skillset.
  • Ability to receive professional feedback to maintain hospital efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Veterinary Medical Center of St. Lucie County is a beautiful 10,000 sq foot 24‑hour emergency veterinary hospital in St. Lucie, FL. We offer specialized ER care 24/7 and during the day we function as a comprehensive full‑service animal hospital! We provide top‑notch service, cutting‑edge technology, and a dedicated team of experienced medical professionals and support staff eager to be involved in your pet’s care. Whether your pet needs routine check‑ups, preventive care, or urgent medical attention, we’re here to provide expert care whenever it’s needed. We also offer boarding, grooming, and an incredible dog daycare!

With a shared passion for animal care and a commitment to excellence, we ensure that every pet receives the best possible treatment in a warm and welcoming environment.

We are looking to add another experienced technician to our Emergency Services team! We are open 24/7 to take emergency cases.

Our general practice hours of operation are:

  • Monday - Friday: 7 am - 5 pm
  • Saturday: 7 am - 4 pm
  • Closed on Sunday

Job Duties

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.
