Mount Dora Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced ER Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency Room team in Florida. This role offers mentorship, hands-on learning, and leadership opportunities as our emergency care services expand.

The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, excellent communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling triage, lab work, imaging support, anesthesia monitoring, and hospitalized patient care.

Qualifications

• 2+ years professional veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience is required.
• CVT or licensed vet tech credentials are preferred, but not required.
• Previous vet med ER experience is required for this position.
• Comfort with anesthesia, diagnostics, patient restraint, venipuncture, and nursing care.
• Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations.
• A steady, reliable teammate available for weekends, late evenings, and overnight shifts.
• A communicator who builds trust with clients and teammates.
• Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques.
• Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards.

Responsibilities

• Triage incoming urgent and emergency patients with calm, confident technical care.
• Collect and analyze lab samples, run in-house diagnostics, and support imaging workflows.
• Assist with digital radiology, ultrasound, and advanced diagnostics.
• Provide nursing care for hospitalized patients with varying levels of stability.
• Prepare for surgery, assist doctors, and monitor anesthesia with attention to detail.
• Administer medications, support treatment plans, and communicate clearly with clients.
• Partner with doctors and fellow vet tech team members to keep patient flow smooth.
• Help shape best practices as our emergency care model continues to grow.

• Commitment to professional ethics and continuing education.
• Ability to manage a high caseload with multiple patients simultaneously.

Additional Information

Pay Range: $18 - $24/hr. depending on level of experience.
