Job summary

MedVet is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Doctor Coordinator to join our fast-paced ER team in Cleveland, OH. You will support doctors during shifts, help coordinate diagnostic scheduling and client communication, and document patient histories under supervision.

Responsibilities include managing workflow, mentoring staff, handling prescription refills, and ensuring smooth operations in a high-stress environment.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required.
• Previous emergency experience desired.
• Proficient in drug calculations, CRIs and unit conversions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexibility with work hours; able to work additional hours when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Directly supports specific doctor(s) for a shift and may support different doctors.
• Ensures follow-through of departmental workflow for the supported doctor(s).
• Collaborates on scheduling of consults, transfers, and diagnostics.
• Delegates team responsibilities as appropriate to team members (rounding cases, scheduling, etc.).
• Acts as point of contact for referral partner transfers/inquiries when doctors are unavailable.
• Provides departmental client communication for cases (care plans, questions, etc.).
• Drafts medical record documentation and initial patient history for doctor review.
• Monitors emails and voicemails for doctors.
• Assists with outpatient procedures as required (bandage changes, radiographs, samples).
• May escort clients and prep/maintain exam rooms.
• Mentor or train team members.
• Coordinate and delegate prescription refills to team members.
