Job summary

Mount Carmel seeks a Part-time Emergency Department Technician to support the ED team. You will respond to patient needs, transport and escort patients, perform phlebotomy, EKGs, wound care, and assist with trauma and resuscitation procedures.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, BLS, and prior patient care experience preferred. Strong communication skills are essential in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or equivalency.
• Licensure / Certification: BLS required; approved course including basic patient care skills and EKG phlebotomy.
• Experience: Prior patient care or health-related field preferred.
• Effective communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient needs promptly.
• Assists with transportation and patient escort.
• Performs visual acuity, eye irrigations and equipment setups.
• Performs phlebotomy and collects lab specimens as ordered.
• Supports trauma, stroke, heart & sepsis protocols and resuscitation as a team member.
• Performs wound care and sterile technique as needed.
• Assists with suture/staple removal (excluding facial region).
• Performs Foley care and collects specimens.
• Performs EKGs and phlebotomy.
• Collects and documents vital signs and other patient data.
• Reports changes in condition to RN/physician timely.
