Job summary

Riverside Smithfield Hospital in Smithfield, VA is seeking an ED Tech. The role supports physicians and nurses in the Emergency Department, performing EKGs, IVs, phlebotomy, and general patient care under supervision.

Requirements include EMT/Paramedic training and active certifications (NREMT or VDHP). 1 year of EMT experience and CPR/BLS are required, with ACLS/PALS within 180 days of hire if applicable.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• EMT/Paramedic training preferred.
• 1 year Emergency Technician experience for PRN status is required.
• EMT (NREMT) or Virginia VDHP certification required upon hire.
• CPR/BLS certification required; ACLS & PALS within specified timelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and RNs with patient care, including invasive and non-invasive procedures (EKG, IVs, phlebotomy).
• Monitor patient status and report variances using SBAR when applicable.
• Complete clinical documentation per RHS standards.
• Support patient throughput and respond to patient needs promptly.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality care.
• Fill in as monitor tech as needed.
