Job summary

Riverview Health in Indiana is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Emergency Department. The ED RN conducts initial patient assessments, performs lab work and point-of-care testing, administers medications, and supports discharge planning with physicians to ensure smooth transitions of care.

The role requires a valid Indiana RN license, BLS/ACLS/PALS/ENPC, and at least two years in critical care or emergency care.

Qualifications

• Two years of Critical Care experience.
• Two years of Emergency Department experience.
• Graduate of an accredited RN program.

Responsibilities

• Triages patients who present to the Emergency Department, prioritizing care based on the critical nature and severity of a patient’s condition.
• Assesses patient condition through visual evaluation, medication reconciliation, and vital sign measurements such as blood pressure, pulse rate, respiration, and temperature.
• Administers medication and assists with medical procedures as prescribed by the treating physician.
• Monitors patients for changes in condition and communicates timely and effectively with those involved in the care or treatment of the patient in compliance with policies and regulations.
• Partners with other members of the patient care treatment team in the provision of procedures, discharge or admission processes.
• Charts all patient medical history, contact information, condition, medications, and treatment as well as update the electronic medical record throughout the patient stay.
• Discharges patients and completes discharge instructions, educates the patient and/or caregiver, ensuring understanding and coordinating transportation when needed.
• Other duties as assigned or required.
