Job summary

HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital in Apopka, FL, is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Freestanding ER Wekiva location. This PRN night-shift role supports the Emergency Department with high-quality, patient-centered care using established nursing models.

You will collaborate with providers and care team, assessing pain, administering care, teaching patients and families, and ensuring timely documentation in the electronic medical record. Florida license required.

Qualifications

• Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RN license required.
• Associate Degree, or Registered Nurse Diploma
• 1+ years experience as RN in acute care environment
• BLS-AHA Provider issued card required within 30 days of start
• NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• TNCC required within 6 months at Main ER
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, or ACLS Instructor must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Support, or PALS Instructor must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.
