Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to join the emergency department care team. The role provides direct patient care under supervision, assists with activities of daily living, phlebotomy, EKGs and specimen collection, and supports vital signs and documentation in the health record.

The position emphasizes teamwork, patient safety, and adherence to department policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an approved nursing assistant certification program required.
• 12 months experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant required.
• CPR certification for healthcare providers required within 90 days.
• Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT) preferred.
• General healthcare experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under supervision of nursing/medical staff.
• Assist with activities of daily living and personal hygiene.
• Perform venipuncture and phlebotomy, collect specimens, obtain EKGs.
• Support vital signs, measurements, and basic care documentation.
• Assist with linen, supplies, and environmental cleanliness.
• Transport patients and assist with discharges and appointments.
• Participate in team meetings and quality improvement activities.
