Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center in Maryland seeks a Certified Nursing Assistant to join the Emergency Department team. You will provide direct patient care under supervision of RNs or physicians, assist with ADLs, and support urgent and changing patient needs.

Responsibilities include vitals, specimen collection support, CPR when needed, patient transport, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. CNA certification and CPR within 90 days required; 12 months of CNA experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an approved CNA certification program required.
• 12 months experience as a certified nursing assistant required.
• CPR certification for healthcare providers within 90 days required.
• CPT - Phlebotomy Technician Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care under supervision of nursing or medical staff.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and personal hygiene.
• Performs venipuncture/phlebotomy and collects specimens.
• Obtains vital signs and documents data in the health record.
• Maintains patient comfort, safety, and privacy at all times.
• Aids in rounding, handoffs, and patient transport as needed.
• Supports care team in procedures and tests in the ED.
