Job summary

WellStar Health System is seeking an Emergency Department patient registration associate. You will greet patients, verify demographics, collect IDs, and ensure accurate billing and insurance information while adhering to EMTALA/HIPAA guidelines.

Responsibilities include data entry, collecting payments, and providing exceptional customer service in a fast-paced department. A high school diploma is required, with preference for an Associates degree and 1 year healthcare experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Associates degree preferred.
• Minimum 1 year experience in healthcare or institutional setting required.
• Computer/data entry experience required.
• Epic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients to obtain complete demographic, financial and insurance information.
• Enter patient information into the registration system.
• Obtain signatures and know forms required by payers.
• Read physician orders to determine procedures and instruct patients accordingly.
• Escort or arrange patient transport to assigned room.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information per HIPAA.
• Assist with general hospital information and directions; support financial counseling.
• Provide courteous, professional guest service and collaboration with staff.
