Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking an RN to provide specialized palliative care within the Emergency Department at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. The role involves direct nursing care, assessments, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate will have an RN license, 2+ years in palliative care or hospice, and familiarity with Serious Illness Conversation guidelines. Onsite, 40 hours/week at 2014 Washington Street.

Qualifications

• Current RN license (state of practice)
• CHPN certification preferred
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
• Minimum 2 years as RN on Palliative Care or Hospice team preferred

Responsibilities

• Identify ED patients who may need Palliative Care consultation and coordinate pathways.
• Perform initial ED patient assessments including Serious Illness Conversation and symptom evaluation.
• Huddle with ED, Palliative Care, and clinical teams to assess suitability for program protocols.
• Educate clinicians on pathway criteria and entry into the appropriate pathway.
• Maintain medical records and contribute to data collection for quality improvement.
