Job summary

HCA Healthcare Summerville Hospital is seeking an Emergency Room Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced ER environment. The RN collaborates with physicians and care teams to assess, treat, teach, and manage patient care while advocating for patients and families.

Responsibilities include pain management, timely documentation, prompt response to patient needs, and education for patients and families about conditions, treatment plans, and follow-up.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• 1 year applicable experience
• Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures, translating complex medical terminology for understanding.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as diet and exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes; prepares for future self-management.

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma
