Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital is seeking an experienced RN for the Level I Emergency Department in Akron, OH. You will deliver patient-centered care, interact with patients and families, and provide education during the care journey.

The role offers full-time night shifts (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) with every other weekend and 3 holiday rotations. Candidates must have Ohio RN licensure and relevant certifications, with orientation completed or underway.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS certification or ALS certification upon hire or within one year
• PALS certification upon hire or within one year
• Satisfactory completion of AGMC RN and critical care orientation programs and Critical Care course
• Completion of all mandated programs as required by policy and unit-based competencies/skills

Responsibilities

• Complete Emergency Department Assessment Data Base upon patient arrival, inclusive of psychosocial, educational and age specific needs of patient/family.
• Complete ongoing assessments according to departmental policies and recognize significant changes in patient condition.
• Initiate an individualized plan of care based on assessment of patient needs and ED standards of care.
• Include plan for appropriate teaching for patient/family.
• Review individualized plan of care and goals with patient/family.
• Review and document care and discharge goals with physician and patient/family.
• Maintain a safe, comfortable environment for patients.
• Accurately administer and document IVs and medications according to established standards of care.
• Intervene when changes in patient condition occur.
• Provide timely interventions in accordance with age specific needs and department policy.
• Document nursing interventions and patient responses per policy.
• Serve as patient/family advocate to facilitate care and communication.
• Evaluate and modify plan of care as necessary based on assessments.
• Establish priorities for delivery of patient care and for groups of patients.
