Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital is seeking an experienced RN for the Emergency Department in Akron, OH. This full‑time night shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) role focuses on direct patient care and family teaching in a fast-paced ED setting.

The ideal candidate will have an accredited nursing education background, Ohio RN licensure, and current BLS; ACLS/PALS within one year are required. Prior ED/critical care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN) is required.
• ED/critical care experience is preferred.
• Current RN License in Ohio is required.
• BLS Certification required.
• ACLS and PALS Certification required within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Complete Emergency Department Assessment Data Base upon patient arrival.
• Perform ongoing assessments and recognize significant changes in patient condition.
• Initiate an individualized plan of care based on patient needs.
• Provide teaching for patient and family.
• Review care goals with patient and family.
• Document care and discharge goals with physician and patient/family.
• Maintain a safe, comfortable environment for patients.
• Administer and document IVs and medications.
• Intervene appropriately when patient condition changes.
• Advocate for patients and families to facilitate care.

• Appropriately intervene when changes in patient condition occur.
• Serve as patient/family advocate to facilitate patient care and communication.

Requirements

Education

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program) required

Experience

• ED/critical care experience preferred

Licenses & Certifications

• Current RN License in Ohio
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required upon hire or within one year
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required upon hire or within one year
