Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital is seeking an experienced RN to join the Emergency Department on the night shift in Akron, OH. You will perform initial assessments, develop care plans, and communicate with patients and families about care and discharge.

Ideal candidates hold an Ohio RN license with BLS, ACLS and PALS within one year of hire. ED/critical care experience is preferred, with a commitment to high-quality, compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform ED admission/initial assessment and establish care needs.
• Monitor patient condition and recognize changes requiring intervention.
• Develop and document individualized care plans and goals.
• Provide teaching for patients and families about care needs and discharge.
• Collaborate with physicians and staff to review goals and plan of care.
• Maintain safe environment and accurately document IVs and medications.

What You'll Do

• Complete Emergency Department Assessment Data Base upon patient arrival.
• Complete ongoing assessments and recognize significant changes in patient condition.
• Initiate an individualized plan of care based on patient needs.
• Include plan for appropriate teaching for patient/family.
• Review individualized plan of care and goals with patient/family.
• Review and document care and discharge goals with physician and patient/family.
• Maintain a safe, comfortable environment for patients.
• Accurately administer and document IVs and medications.
• Appropriately intervene when changes in patient condition occur.
• Serve as patient/family advocate to facilitate patient care and communication.

Requirements

• Education: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program) required
• Experience: ED/critical care experience preferred
• Licenses & Certifications:
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required upon hire or within one year
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required upon hire or within one year
