Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department. The role emphasizes nursing process, patient assessment, discharge planning, and collaboration with the health care team.

The position requires MA nursing licensure, BLS, ACLS as applicable, and offers a non-exempt status with a 36-hour week schedule. A signing bonus may be available and eligibility will be confirmed during the interview process.

Qualifications

• Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure is required.
• BLS certification is required for every RN unless ACLS is current.
• ACLS/other unit certifications may be required.

Responsibilities

• Uses the Nursing Process from admission to discharge.
• Performs patient assessment and reassessment per procedure.
• Develops care plans including discharge planning.
• Directs and evaluates nursing care in the assigned setting.
• Delegates to team members per competency.
• Documents patient care according to procedure.
• Educates patients and families as part of the care plan.
• Collaborates with other health care providers to ensure quality care.
• Administers medications and assists with procedures as required.
• Participates in governance and quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintains attendance and adheres to safety regulations.
